Corners by Platform1: Nerd Unit

This is where "Nerd" is actually "Cool". Take a look at Nerd Unit's flagship store in SS15 and don't forget to drop by the minimalist store on your next trip to Asia Cafe.

Standing tall in its minimalistic composition of a storefront, Nerd Unit is the brainchild of Malaysian Ronald Chew who first hatched the idea of the brand during his college years in San Francisco. The man’s homecoming also signified a new location for the brand whose namesake hints at the nerdy semblance of kids perpetually fixated on their computer screens to keep up with the hype at any point of time – becoming one of the cool kids is a paradox that requires the personification of a nerdy character.

Nerd Unit can be found along the same SS15 street where Ronald’s other venture, Project Space, is located and both physical interiors exude the black and white goth elements mirrored in their apparel. Fresh faces in the clothing game, Nerd Unit’s house designs are flanked by fellow local streetwear line "The Line B".

And now, the story culminates. Pestle & Mortar Clothing has gone ahead and dropped some of their quality pieces from the Crossing Borders collection at the frill-free standalone store. Among other designs, the spirited Legacy Long Sleeve and the electrifying High Voltage Tee have hit the racks so if you’re ever in the area – say, grabbing coffee at Project Space down the road – get your new Pestle & Mortar threads at Nerd Unit while you’re at it.
